Nduom backs NPP's Call for a new voters Register

Leader of the Progressive People's Party, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, has called on the Electoral Commission to a compile a new credible voters’ register for the 2016 election.

Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom made this recommendation in an interview with Radio Ghana.

He suggested that rather the EC; the National Identification Authority should be made the authorized body to give a database for the new register.

His comments follow calls by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a new voters register.

The NPP has, on several occasions, called the credibility of the current voters’ register into question, describing it as bloated and has constantly pushed for a review.

The flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to the new Chairperson of the Electoral Commissioner (EC) to give Ghana a fresh start by creating a new voters’ register.

The NPP is of the opinion that the current register is bloated and not credible for the next general elections.

Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom says NIA must be resourced to provide the correct database as the EC's data may be flawed.

On the Nkrumaist alliance, Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum said what could be possible is not an alliance but a coalition government.

He told Radio Ghana that based on his experience an alliance or merger may not work.

He said by the end of this month the Executive will meet to get ready for the 2016 election.
