Dr. Kpessah Embarrasses Himself Through An Exposure Of His Ignorance Read more at: http://www.modernghana.com/news/641701/1/dr-kpessah-embarrasses-himself.html

We had the pleasure to listen to Dr Michael Kpessah's statement he delivered at the event of Coalition for the Defence of Equal Citizenship on August 26, 2015, titled "Maintaining the Integrity of the Biometric Voters’ Register".

Afterward, we again took the time to carefully read through his whole statement and we were shocked at what he delivered, especially considering the fact that he intended to rebattal NPP's statement titled "The Case For A New Voter register" which was delivered by Dr Bawumia.

Before we start, we want to ask if Dr Kpessah's doctorate title is only a nickname or an honorary one.

We again want to know which school he got his PhD from if indeed it is an academically earned one and lastly if possible, get us a copy of his dissertation for us to verify.

Seriously from an academic point of view with respect to his rebattal to the NPP's statement, he has ridiculed and brought a big disgrace upon himself, the PhD degree, the school that he earned it from and lastly the school he used to lecture.

We are of this view because of the following;
To start with, Dr Kpessah's statement which was meant to be a direct rebattal to NPP's statement was rather something which was very parallel to or far away from it.

Something we would have easily scored him 0/10 if it had been an easy titled "Write a Rebattal to NPP's statement titled "The Case For A New Voter Register" Presented by Bawumia" given to him as a text.

Dr Kpessah completely sped off the track, it was as if he was ignorant of what he was rebattaling, Which has made us quiet sure, he might had written his rebattal based on a hearsay and probably not after reading the NPP's statement.

Because while NPP's statement talked about a smuggle of scanned images of Togolese into the Ghana voter register even unknown to these Togolese with their scanned images in the Ghana voter register, Dr Kpessah was rather talking about the right of a person with a dual citizenship to register in Ghana, thus making his rebattal worlds apart from the NPP's statement.

Secondly, Dr Kpessah again ridiculed himself and his qualification with his explaination on how a person becomes a Citizen of Ghana through Birth according to the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

We are shocked a Doctor(PhD) of his caliber didn't know this simple thing and also couldn't spend a small of his time to research and make sure what he was presenting was accurate.

Note, Dr Kpessah explained it to be;
"if a person is born in Ghana to Togolese parents, that person is a citizen of Ghana"

which is very contrary to/different from what the 1992 Constitution of Ghana under Citizenship says, which is;

"A person born in or outside Ghana after the coming into force of this constitution, shall become a citizen of Ghana at the date of his birth either of his parents or grandparents is or was a citizen of Ghana"

Actually there is no where in the Chapter Three titled Citizenship of the 1992 Constitution which quotes what he stated.

He was totally wrong and therefore displayed an unimaginable high level of ignorance of the relevant laws of the land pertaining to citizenship.

3. The saddest part was the deliberate, cheap, divisive tribal card he played with the aim to score some cheap political scores while addressing a non-partisan, very delicate issue as this.

We are shocked he could be so academically/intellectually dishonest by playing this card through trying to push NPP against Voltarians when according to the NPP's statement, out of thirteen towns mentioned, only three were in Volta Region.

We are shocked he could stoop so low especially considering his level of intelligence and academic caliber, will still push such a propaganda which he definitely knew/knows won't augur well for the peace and unity of the country.

We are with this article suggesting to our senior brother Dr Kpessah to apologise to knowledge, academial, the people of Ghana and then revisit the NPP's statement, read and study it well and do a better rebattal to it as he intended to do.

Thank you and May God be praised always
