THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THE PUSIGA DISTRICT BECE MOCK QUESTION
I have carefully analysed the Pusiga District BECE Mock question which raised a lot of issues last week and I have come to realise there was a positive side of the question which the NPP failed to capitalize on.
Below is the analysis for my claim;
The question was;
"Nana Addo known as all die be die canvassed for votes with his eloquence"
From the question, the key words and phrases are;
1. All die be die
2. Canvassed
3. Eloquence
Now let's take the meaning of each of the words and phrase
1. All die be die
With this phrase, there are two assumed meanings of it, one from the perspective of the NPP and the other from the NDC.
A. NPP's Perspective
We won't allow anyone to bully us, if any tries a bully, there will be a retaliation.
B. NDC's Perspective
NPP will want to do anything for power even if people will have to die for them to achieve it.
2. Canvassed(Past tense of Canvass)
A. Solicit
B. Persuade
C. Appeal
D. Plead
E. Campaign
3. Eloquence
The quality of artistry and persuasiveness in speech or writing.
From the definitions above;
1. Since there are two meanings of the "All die be die" phrase, one can not easily determine which of the meanings the examiner wrote the question with without a careful analysis of it.
2. Since Eloquence is a good quality, it means the Examiner might either think or have observed Nana Addo has this good quality and so a reason for his description of him with it.
Finally since, "VIOLENT MEN" use FORCE and not ARTISTIC PERSUASION, it means no one will associate a "Violent Man" with a good quality such as "Eloquence" especially in the context of this question.
It as a result means the examiner wrote this question with NPP's meaning of "All die be die" and certainly not that of the NDC.
Furthermore, it goes on to say the Examiner wrote the question without an evil intention against Nana Addo but rather he was telling the world of the good quality Nana Addo possesses and through that has been winning lots of voters to his side, of which we all know has been very extraordinary.
An advice to the NPP is they should not allow themselves to fall for the agendas set by NDC but they should rather try and make gains out of every agenda the NDC set for them.
Thank you
Hhhmm, may God be praised always
