THE AGONY OF THE FAILING NDC GOVERNMENT

THE AGONY OF THE FAILING NDC GOVERNMENT

An effective governance is when majority of people in a country are to some extent satisfied with the works of the government in power. What do we see in our dear Ghana today? A country blessed with all the essential resources for massive development and growth. Poor management and misallocation of these resources. The wealth of our dear nation has been left in the hands of a few families, friends and close allied who engages in create loot and share.

The market woman goes to the market very early in the morning and gets back late in the evening with virtually nothing. The labourer works all day and ends up gaining something meagre. The strike chain is the order of the day. Most students are being sent out of school as a result of their inability to pay their fees and get money for upkeep.

Ghana in its current state is in a chance-medley and every citizen in one way or the other has a feel of it.

The once verbal promising political party – NDC had led the country into total disarray. The umbrella was manufactured to protect one during rainfall and the scorching sun but during seasons where the storms are high the umbrella is rendered useless. This umbrella in question has failed our dear nation Ghana not only in the storms but in the rains as well.

The performing sectors in the former President Kuffour’s administration are left creeping under the leadership of the NDC government. Wait a minute! The NDC seem to have achieved their goal – as political parties were required to present their futuristic and problem-solvable policies, the NDC drafted their manifesto during the 2012 electoral period to make Ghana’s current state of affairs look like progress. Whiles the presidential candidate of the NPP - Nana Akuffo Addo Danquah was busily drawing out his visions for our dear nation of which free tuition at senior High school was paramount, the current administration headed by His Excellency President John Dramani presented our nation with no concrete vision but rather tuned in to the sleeves of critic.

After intense criticism by the NDC on the free Senior High School programme intended to be initiated by the NPP if they had assumed power, they (the NDC) swallowed back their sputum by implementing the same policy they swore never to consider. Unsurprisingly they failed to navigate the sputum back to its natural habitat. The policy was not theirs in the first place so they lacked everything needed to see it through. They could have succeeded but for the pathological corruption and mismanagement high up in their ranks. Their plight has created a ceiling that curtails the growth and development of our dear nation.

It could be observed that, within the core of the NDC government the main ambition is to loot and share and not build a better Ghana as they claim to be doing. In fact they are worsening the country’s fate and leading it to certain doom. To the average Ghanaian, life is getting worse and worse with the passing of each and every day.

Indeed I agree with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah that the NDC government is really ‘’competent’’. The current government is competent in mismanagement and corruption.
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama claims the NDC has made tremendous impact in almost all the sectors in the economy. To state a few,  Health, Education, Agriculture and many more. If indeed these sectors have experienced real development and not the chicanery they engage in with sod cutting. If indeed there has been development why then is Ghana experiencing high rates of unemployment, widening of inequality between the rich and the poor and poverty.

The tremendous development undertaken by the NPP under the administration of His Excellency Former President John Agyekum kuffour for the entire eight year period in all sectors can’t be compared to that of the NDC. Considering the educational sector, one could bear witness that under the Kuffour led administration, the school feeding program was introduced. This initiative was well monitored hence its effectiveness although it didn’t get to all areas in the country. The cooks were well catered for hence its smooth running. The NDC has failed in building up this initiative. In fact they have rather destroyed it. The cooks are not being paid after delivering their service. This is because the resources to do that have been left in the care of the ministry of gender and this ministry has failed to deliver due to reasons in their selfish interest.

Also, the GETFUND which was also effectively manage by the Kuffours administration has been rendered dormant by the current administration. Gone are the days were a child gains admission into the senior High school and his parents are happy but what do we see today? Gaining admission to SHS is a headache to parent due to high fees. To worsen it all, the current administration is taking a step to bill tertiary students on utility. I think our leaders are calling for a second event of what happened in South Africa. The current school fees for a first year SHS student ranges between Ghc450 to Ghc700 and the NDC led president John Dramani Mahama government absorbs only about Ghc40 and that is termed FREE SHS EDUCATION? This is absolutely an 'insult' to say the least and being charitable with expression of language.

Moreover, the power sector has also experienced a massive failure in this current administration. Dum Dum Dum and SMALL SOR here and there. Most businesses depending solely on power have been closed down and most workers have been laid. This situation was well dealt with under the NPP administration. The nation needs a permanent power generating source for future generation now that our population keeps increasing hence that initiative is just a waste of resources. The fact is, the NDC has generated a lot of funds for it administration   through high tax revenue, debt increment, increase in grant from foreign donors and even a reduction of capital expenditure of 11% from 2001 – 2008 to about 6% from 2009 to 2014 but as stated earlier have diverged all into their personal coffers hence nothing is left for our dear nation. This is the hard truth President John Dramani Mahama and his administration are failing to tell us hence trying all funny means to cover up. In plain terms GHANA HAS NO MONEY IN IT COFFERS. 'Ya We Enam Nu Amanaka Don Pe'.

As though that is not enough, the recently 2016 budget has been described as one that has no better prospects for this country according to the experts. The trends and Rating Consult has also indicated that “from this budget any raised hopes will be nothing but a fleeting illusion”.

The economic policy of the NDC government for 2016 cannot even provide a lifeline for this nation but rather threatens to starve organizations of capital and resort to its old and usual ways of raising revenue by borrowing more. Withholding tax from 2016 shall be increased from 10% to 15% with the rational of further collapsing the few performing companies despite their high production cost.

The Agricultural sector cannot be left out when it comes to recording failing sectors. This sector has been made less attractive to the youth but the government ironically encourages them to venture into it. No capital and high prices of input materials. Diving into the cocoa industry, Ghana the once number one chief producer of cocoa has been dropped to the second by Cote d’Ivoire though we all produce on the same hectares of land thus 1.7 million acres of land. Though the NDC government has set an initiative to encourage the youth and motivate the older farmers through spraying, provision of fertilizers and extension services, the initiative is useless in that these services do not get to the farmers or get to them in less quantities. What can two box of fertilizers do to fifty acres of a cocoa farm?

No wonder Cote d’Ivoire produces about 1 million metric tonnes and Ghana continues to produce seven hundred metric tonnes.

The Atta Mills John Mahama led NDC administration has led our dear country through an eight year period of pain and regrets. An intense agony has hit the entire sectors in this country from education to business. National resources also being ransack by people higher on the food chain for self-gratification.

Economic instability coupled with power fluctuation has been the order of the day. How can we get the Ghana we expect?

The Ghana which was handled by selfless leader who focused more on enhancing the nation’s economy to create more jobs, reduce inflation and provide a conducive environment for investors to operate within and not blow trumpet with basic responsibilities of theirs such as provision of roads, schools, hospitals etc which was describe by the current president as “exercise in mediocrity” when he was the then running mate of the late president Atta Mills.

As Ghanaians, we entrusted the fate and hope of mother Ghana into the hands of this political scavengers and the ever “COMPETENT”  Mahama led administration have indeed succeeded in fulfilling their sole mandate for AMA Ghana, i.e. “y3 b3 deee k3k3”.

2016 election shouldn’t be another moment of endorsement for the next nosiest party, one that  comes to play with the minds of its people because they perceive we have a short term memory and easily forgets about things of the past but a moment of accountability, a stage where we as Ghanaians begin to have a personal reflection of ourselves within this eight years of governance that has subjected us to abject poverty and a high level of economic hardship and begin to consider the NPP administration as the best alternative come 2016.

LONG live the NPP, Long live Nana Addo-Danquah Akuffo Addo.

Ghana awaits you to relieve us from the melancholy we find ourselves in.
