EC'S METHOD NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO ACCOMPLISH THE SC'S ORDER

Critical Thinkers International(CTI) has gotten a copy of the judgement of the Supreme Court(SC) in the case of Abu Ramadan and Evans Nimako Vrs The Electoral Commission(EC) and The Attorney General(AG) which was headed by Wood(Mrs), CJ

We have also come across a release from the EC signed by Mr Amadu Sulley, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations titled "EC COMMITTED TO A CLEAN VOTER REGISTER" in which they talked of how they intend to work towards the meeting of the orders in the SC's judgement.

We must say we are glad about the EC's release but we are still concerned about the kind of method they intend to execute the SC's order with, since after a careful analysis of the SC's verdict, CTI has come to a conclusion that the EC's Validation/Verification/Authentication method which it intends to use during the Exhibition Exercise can not help execute the orders of the SC properly for a credible register, because their method automatically includes anyone in the existing register who intentionally or unintentionally fails to turn up for the Exhibition exercise.

Which is wrong because it gives an avenue for ineligible voters to get themselves secured in the register by simply not turning up for the Exhibition Exercise.

Below is a summary of the order by the SC;

A. All minors in the existing register should be removed

B. All the dead in the existing register should be removed

C. All the people who registered with inappropriate/unauthorized documents during the 2012 registration and after, of which the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS) card which was not illegal during the 2012 Biometric Registration but has become illegal now because of the ruling of the SC on the Abu Ramadan case which made the use of the NHIS card for registration unconstitutional all have to be removed from the existing register.

[A means to get rid of foriegners from the existing register]

D. The SC can not force the EC to do something or move in a particular direction as far as the EC is operating in the laws bidding it.

E. The public can not force the EC to do anything they wish for.

F. The EC can not be forced to use the Validation/Verification/Authentication method proposed by the Crabbe Committee since this method has not been pushed into law and the EC can't also be forced by anyone to push it into law.

They can only consider it if they want to.

G. After the deletion of the assumed ineligible voters such as the Minors, Unauthorized document users and the dead from the register by the EC, an opportunity should be given to these people who have been removed but believe they are eligible to prove themselves and get themselves re-registered/back into the register.

Lastly the SC also advised the EC that eventhough the public can not force it to consider something or it can refuse to consider the suggestions of the public as long as it works within the laws bidding it, it will still be wise for the EC to involve the public in their decision making so that it can increase the public's confidence in them and through that help reduce mistrust and suspicion.

Moreover, considering the orders A, B, C and G above which are the main orders by the SC to help get a credible register, due to the will be difficulty to determine the minors, dead and unauthorized document users in the existing register and get them removed from it, CTI after a careful analysis have come to realise that the best methods to help accomplish this task is;

A. A Crabbe Committee's Validation/Verification/Authentication method after a totally New Biometric Register has been done.

B. A Crabbe Committee's Validation/Verification/Authentication method only.

[If time and funds are not enough to include a totally New Biometric Register]

[Note; The Crabbe Committee's validation method automatically removes from the existing register anyone who doesn't turn up for the validation exercise and also all people who don't present the appropriate documents to prove their validity to continue being in the register].

We will as a result advise and plead with the EC to consider one of the two methods above since they have already proposed they lack the right mechanisms to help get Ghana a credible register.

But if they still insist they won't use any of the above then we will plead with them to get a more credible method than their existing method and then furnish Ghanaians with this new method so that it can be pushed for public scrutiny before they push it into law for this task of cleaning the register.

The EC must have in mind that since the first step to a Credible Election which Ghanaians will LOVE and be pleased with is getting a Credible Register, it has therefore become very important for a credible register to be gotten.

And since a Credible Register has become this important, and even more important than their New Logo they LOVE and cherish so much, so just as they did with the acquisition of their new logo, CTI will plead with the EC to also do everything possible to get a Credible Register which Ghanaians will also LOVE.

Due to how a majority of people are very passionate with their religion, tribe and race, it is mostly a suicide mission for any to ride on all or some or one of these paths in their line of an electoral campaign.

So eventhough Dr. Bawumia had it completely right with his religious analysis with respect to how both the NDC and NPP have been choosing their Flagbearers and Running mates over the years, it still doesn't make it right for him to use it as a campaign tool due to the religious diversity of the country and its deadly effect of breaking up the citizens along religious lines of which we all know is very bad for the nation's unity and its development.

So just as we criticized others for their religious, regional and tribal divisive comments such as;

1. No Muslim can be President- Fifi Kwetey, 2007(NDC)

2. My fellow Voltarians should please vote for NDC so that the NPP don't get the chance to jail me- Mrs Attivor, 2014(NDC)

3. Y3n Akanfour statement(He has apologised for the statement)- Nana Addo, 2012(NPP)

4. Vote for me because I'm a Northerner- President Mahama, 2012(NDC)

5. The regions with the most resources of the nation should be rulers of the nation- Dr. Osafo Marfo, 2015(NPP)

6. Ade3 wo fie a woye- Prof. Atta Mills, 2012(NDC)

7. No true Muslim will support NPP- Mr Eric Opoku, 2016(NDC)

8. Others

We therefore see it as just to do same to Dr. Bawumia for his also.

Aside that, we will also advice Dr. Bawumia to retract and apologise for the sake of the nation's welfare.

Finally, eventhough due to the majority of weak minded and emotional people in Ghana who as a result easily buy these tribal, religious and regional bias campaign tools of the politicians, and as a result usually

motivate these politicians to take these paths for their political gains especially in the electoral seasons of the country, we will still plead with all members of the political parties to desist from that and rather concentrate on issues such as the economy and others which can help in the advancement of the development of the country.

In all humility, Critical Thinkers International(CTI) must say President John Dramani Mahama had it totally wrong with this statement of his, he made at Volta Star Radio at Ho in the Volta region;

"Ghanaians Who Don’t Feel Prosperity In The Economy Probably Lack Skills".

Because with respect to Ghana's economic situation now, it is rather the bad economy which is not giving people with skills the opportunity for them to prosper and certainly not the other way round as stated by him.

We are not only sad with this statement by President Mahama, but find it very disappointing it came from him.

Therefore our belief is that, the president might have made such statement out of either  ignorance or mischief.

We are saying this because due to the facts available which is very common to find, it is shocking a man of his calibre who is supposed to know this easily either by himself or through his numerous economic advisors will go public with such an intellectual blunder on the state of Ghana's economy.

To support our claim, we will like to make our analysis from the public and private employment sectors of Ghana's economy.

A. Public Sector

Due to the bad economy which has been caused by this President Mahama NDC led government, which has eventually pushed us for this IMF bailout, the government has been forced to;

1. Halt lots of the labour force(skilled people) like teachers, nurses, technicians from our various polytechnics and others from getting employed.

2. Sack lots of the labour force(skilled people) like pupil teachers, kuffour nurses who have acquired their skills from short trainings and experience over time and others from their workplaces.

3. Others

B. Private Sector

Due to the the huge taxes, high utility bills, high interest rates, high cost of fuel, huge depreciation of the cedi with respect to the major trading currencies, the unstable electricity power supply and others which are all symptoms of a bad economy;

1. It has become hard for the labour force(skilled people) who want to setup their own business to do so.

2. Others are also being forced to shut down their businesses and through that leaving most of these skilled people unemployed in the street.

3. Others in their bid to sustain their businesses are forced to lay off some of their skilled workers so as to help reduces their losses.

4. Others

Due to the reasons CTI have pushed above which are all facts known even to the very naive in social issues in the country, it is sad the President will ridicule himself this way through either his ignorance or intentionally being corrupt with the truth.

We therefore conclude that, it is not Ghanaians who lack skills, who don’t feel the prosperity In the economy but rather it is the bad economy which is not giving the people with the skills the avenue to prosper.

When we see images and artistic impression of Buildings, Bridges and Roads as evidence of an efficient government, we squirm in agony and anger.

Are we stupid?  Rawlings asked?

The NDC promised a complete departure from the Prez Kufour NPP alleged mis-management (assuming without admitting that it's true) and to give us a better Ghana.

What we are seeing and witnessing today is sad, pathetic and insulting.

We strongly advise we either stop paying taxes or Ghanaians must wakeup from their slumber partisan politics and demand at the highest level the judicious use of the taxes, borrowing and donor supports.

Enough is enough!

Basic everyday tool to work with, the government can't provide. Go to our Hospitals and schools and see at first hand the disconnect between propaganda and reality. Even common chalk they can't provide.

All they know is to speak big English, and ride in big V8 cars with expensive suits whilst the taxe payer wallow is abject poverty.

Mr. President punish the corrupt as a sign of a good leader.

Nothing seems to be working under Mahama administration.

What has happened to the actors of SADA, GYEEDA,  Bus branding, Brazil 2014 looting etc etc etc.

Mr. President why all these inflated cost in the so called projects?

Can you please disclose cost by cost to each project as you touring and accounting to the people of Ghana so we can compare its for money?

This is the reason why coup d'états never cease to occur in this part of the world.

The few educated and semi educated wants to continue to fool the masses forever. When will this stop.

They have only ended up looting, stealing and corrupting the entire system.

He promised 200 schools, and for 4 years he has only commissioned less than 20.

Where is the probity, accountability and good governance we were promised?

We expect to hear inflation down to their often touted single digit, now they don't even talk about single digit any longer, interest rate, exchange rate, living conditions, debt to GDP, debt stock  etc being lower and healthier than inherited.

They should give us a break!!!

You can't cheat all the people all the time.

Lets arise fellow Ghanaians and demand for good governance.
